Alexis Thompson. She may not be a household name right now, but that is about to change. The 16 year old is playing on a sponsor's exemption at this week's Avnet LPGA Classic. She is currently tied for the lead going into the final round. If she is able to hold off some of the best players in the world, I feel like this would be a huge boost for women's golf. 


There have been many up's and down's for the LPGA tour in the last few years, especially in our country. They have not been able to get the tour to the same status as the men's. I think it is because we have very few American women who are consistently on top of the leader board. We have some great talent. We have some great players. We just lack that player that brings fire and excitement to the tour. 


Tiger Woods singlehandedly changed the way we think about the PGA Tour. We need someone like that to fire up the LPGA Tour. Alexis Thompson could provide that spark that we've been waiting for!
