I'm pulling for David Toms....

David Toms had a rough time last week at the Players Championship. He could have run away with the tournament. Instead, his putter worked against him and he was unable to hold on against KJ Choi.

This week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational, he seemed to have forgotten about last week, and shot two consecutive 62's heading into the weekend. He then proceeded to shoot a 74 on Saturday, relinquishing his lead to Charlie Wi. The two are now tied going into the final round.

So, I can't help but pull for David Toms to come out of this funk he seems to be in. Like I've said before, I guess if being in a "slump" consists of shooting a few 62's and banking over one million dollars, I would take being in a slump every weekend. You want him to finish it off though. You want him to hold that trophy up on Sunday night. You want a guy who has really dedicated himself to playing better golf to win one of these weeks.

It was very inspiring to hear about how David has taken a new interest in making the game of golf more fun. He said a couple weeks ago that his son was really helping to remind him that this is only a game. He was helping him remember that he is out on a golf course every week, instead of stuck in an office. He was reminding him that at the end of the day, David was able to come home to a beautiful family and a great life. This has relaxed Toms to the point where he is just playing his own game, he's going out and just letting his swing go. It's really great to see.

I hope he pulls it off today in the final round. I think you would see a lot of emotion come out of him, and it would be a huge weight off his shoulders.

  1. Congratulations David Toms! Closes with a solid 67 to hold off Charlie Wi. It was a little too close for comfort at the end, but he got the job done!
